Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian pyrotechnicians set a record by neutralizing about 6,000 explosive devices.

This was announced by the press officer of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Oleksandr Khorunzhy, during a briefing on May 19.

"The main regions where demining is currently being carried out are the Donetsk region, Mykolaiv region, Kharkiv region, Kherson region. This is the main volume of explosive devices found today," the representative of the State Emergency Service specified.

According to Khorunzhy, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 373 thousand explosive devices have been detected and neutralized, including 2,235 units of aircraft bombs. About 86 thousand hectares of territory have been surveyed.

The press officer of the State Emergency Service also noted that pyrotechnicians have now actively begun to use mechanized demining machines received from Western partners.

"We are continuing to work to have as many of them as possible. Currently, there is a need for 100 such machines. Because this significantly speeds up the process of demining territories and, in particular, protects our personnel. Because in fact, all of these machines work remotely," he added.
